The origin of China's provinces:

1, Heilongjiang Province (Black)

In 1671 to defend against the eastward invasion of Tsarist Russia, the Qing government built Heilongjiang City (the old city of Heihe) along the Heilongjiang River and set up the General of Heilongjiang, with jurisdiction over the Heilongjiang River Basin.

This was changed to Heilongjiang Province in 1907.

Take the full name of the word "black" as the abbreviation. It is said that the abbreviation originated from the river Heilongjiang.

2, Jilin Province (Ji)
