Introduction of Sunflower
Sunflower is also called Scutellaria barbata, Rhododendron chrysosporium, Portulaca oleracea, and Paeonia suffruticosa. Because the leaves of Sunflower are needle-shaped and the flowers are similar to peony, it is also called SongYe Mudan, which belongs to herbaceous plants. The flowering period is from June to September every year, and the colors are mostly red, yellow, purple and yellow-white.
Sunflower originated in South America, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and other places, and is now cultivated all over China. The wild plants are mainly distributed in hillsides and fields. Suitable for growing in sunny and warm climate. When flowering, it can present a colorful sea of flowers, which has strong ornamental value.
Sunflower is suitable to grow in loose and fertile soil with strong drainage and air permeability. When mixing soil, garden soil, yellow sandy soil and humus soil can be mixed to make a cultivation substrate, and the pot should be changed every1~ 2 years to avoid the soil from hardening and air permeability.
The flowering period of sunflower is long, and there is a great demand for nutrients during the growth period. During the flowering period of sunflower, phosphorus, potassium fertilizer and urea fertilizer should be applied once every 1 month to make the flowers more colorful. In order to prolong the flowering period, it is necessary to spray diluted potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution on the flowers.
