The bamboo leaf green snake is a tubefanged viper of the family Viperidae, genus Bamboo Leaf Green. Males have a maximum full length of 77 centimeters and females 98.1 centimeters. The head is large, triangular, with a thin neck, and the head-neck distinction is obvious. The top of the head has fine scales; the scales between the right and left noses are not tangent, separated by fine scales; the dorsal scales are scaly except for the outermost row. Males have a red and white longitudinal line on the side of the body, females have a white or yellowish longitudinal line on the side of the body.

The species is classified as "not threatened" (LC) by the IUCN because of its wide distribution, its large existing population, and the fact that its population is unlikely to decline too rapidly to be considered threatened.

The bamboo leaf green snake is listed on the IUCN 2012 Red List of Threatened Species ver 3.1 - Not Critically Endangered (LC).

The bamboo leaf green snake is not easy to be found because of its bright green color and its preference for perching on plants. People who pass by its habitat and accidentally touch or approach the snake's body are often bitten, and because the species often winds around trees, bites to the head and neck of people often occur, and it is one of the main species of snake that causes injuries in areas such as Fujian, Taiwan and Guangdong. Although the life-threatening cases after being bitten by this species are extremely rare, but because of its wide distribution, resulting in many cases, the harm to people is very great, and this snake's main food frogs and lizards, but also unfavorable to agriculture.
