Origin Whole grass of Gnaphalium affine D.Don, family Asteraceae.
Plant Form A biennial herb, the main with 10-15cm, the whole plant is densely covered with white woolly hair. Stem erect, usually basally branched, cespitose forest. Leaves alternate, basal leaves fall after flowering, lower and middle leaves spatulate or oblanceolate, 2-6 long, 4-12mm wide, base attenuate, decurrent, both sides with white woolly hairs. Heads numerous, arranged in corymbs; involucres globose-campanulate, involucral bracts 3-layered, golden yellow, scarious; flowers yellow, marginal female corolla filiform, central bisexual flower tubular. Achenes long ellipsoid, papillate, crown hairs yellow-white. Flowering April to July, fruiting August to September.
Born on mountain slopes, roadsides, and field margins. Mainly produced in Jiangsu, Zhejiang.
