1. Planting time
Snake melon likes a warm growing environment, and the suitable growth temperature is around 20-35 degrees Celsius, so the best planting time is in spring. The sowing period in the northern region can be in mid- to mid-April, while in the south the temperature is higher and the sowing period can be advanced to around March. Climatic conditions vary from place to place, so planting times are also different. The time needs to be selected according to actual conditions.
2. Prepare the soil
If you choose to plant seedlings after raising them, you must choose a good seedling substrate. Perlite and peat soil can be mixed to ensure good nutrition and a transparent effect.
3. Sowing and raising seedlings
The seed shell of Ophiopogon japonicus is relatively thick and it is difficult for water to penetrate, so the germination rate is slow after sowing. In order to speed up germination, you can soak it in warm water in advance to speed up germination. Before sowing, take out the seeds and let them dry for about 4-6 hours. Prepare 55% warm water, put it in and stir. After the water temperature drops, continue to soak in clean water, then wrap it in gauze and place it in a warm place to germinate.
4. Sowing
Seeds can be sown directly, but not sown. Just tidy up the soil and plant seeds. You can also pay attention to good management after sowing, and conduct field management when the seedlings grow 2-3 true leaves.
