Everyone is familiar with garlic. Garlic bulbs are cultivated under dark and shading conditions. It is a high-end vegetable. Some young friends don’t know the specific cultivation methods. In fact, yellow garlic is easy to cultivate, requires simple facilities, has a short growth period, and has a high output value. Let me share with you the specific planting methods:
1. Variety selection
It is best to choose the fastest-growing varieties of purple-skinned garlic or white-skinned garlic, such as purple-skinned garlic. , bamboo garlic, white garlic, etc. The garlic produced by this type of garlic grows robustly, neatly, is cold-resistant, has strong resistance to diseases and insect pests, and has high yield.
2. Build a pool for thermal insulation
Choose vegetable plots, open spaces or indoor spare rooms in front of and behind the house, etc., and build it with bricks to a height of about 60 cm. The length and width should be determined according to the actual situation. Depending on the situation, you can also choose a vegetable plot or open space, and cultivate directly in the entire border without building a pond.
3. Plant garlic at the right time
Choose garlic heads with large, uniform size and good color. Peel off the coat, remove the rotten cloves, garlic sprouts and garlic discs, and soak them in water for 18 to 24 hours. Hour. Place the garlic cloves in the pond or on the border, the top should be flush, then cover with 2 to 3 centimeters of fine sand or sandy loam, and use 15 to 20 kilograms of garlic per square meter.
Generally, continuous production can be carried out from early October to late March of the following year. When most of the garlic seedlings have grown up, cover the pond with grass to keep out the light, and close the windows for indoor cultivation. When the seedlings are about 10 centimeters tall, spray water every 1 to 2 days. For direct cultivation, the garlic cloves will show buds 1 to 3 days after planting. At this time, a straw curtain should be set up to block the light, soften the garlic leaves, promote their yellowing growth, and ensure the quality.
4. Temperature management
Before unearthed, the temperature was controlled at 25℃ during the day and 18~20℃ at night. After the garlic seedlings are unearthed, the temperature should be maintained at at least 18~22°C during the day and not lower than 16°C at night. When the seedlings are more than 24 cm tall, keep it at 14~18°C. It can be lowered to 12°C 4 to 5 days before harvest.
5. Water management
Spray water once immediately after planting. During the growth of the seedlings, spray water once every 3 to 4 days. The amount of water is less in the early stage of growth, but more in the later stage, when the temperature is high, the seedlings are large or the sandy loam soil drains quickly, so more water should be used. Stop watering 3 to 4 days before harvest to make the garlic grow solid. Spraying once every 1 week or so with 0.1 potassium dihydrogen phosphate or 0.2~0.3 urea aqueous solution is beneficial to high yield.
6. Ventilation and exposure to light
Generally, it is not necessary to open the grass curtain for softening garlic cultivation. If the garlic is snow-white, you can choose to start at noon on a sunny day or in an arched shed a few days before harvesting to improve the quality. Color and quality. In case of high temperature and high humidity, ventilation is required to prevent seedlings from rotting.
7. Harvest at the right time
Generally, 20 to 25 days after garlic is placed (30 to 40 days for direct cultivation), garlic can be harvested when the height is 36 to 43 cm. After another 20 days or so (about 30 days for direct furrowing), the second cut can be harvested. Generally, after the second crop of cultivated garlic has been harvested, the garlic heads should be removed, the sandy soil should be screened out, and after the soil has been trimmed, another plant should be planted as soon as possible.
