Harm of chronic cholecystitis
Cholecystitis has seven common complications:

1. Complications of acute obstructive suppurative cholangitis and cholecystitis: one of the common complications of cholecystitis, which is characterized by fever, abdominal pain and jaundice, and in severe cases, shock.

2. Bacterial liver abscess is a complication of cholecystitis: mainly cholecystitis with stones and obstruction of biliary tract. After the formation of suppurative cholangitis, bacteria spread upward from the bile duct to the liver, causing liver abscess, which is characterized by swelling and pain in the right upper abdomen, chills, high fever, excessive sweating and general weakness.

3. Biliary bleeding as a complication of cholecystitis: bile duct inflammation forms abscess, abscess festers and erodes blood vessels in the liver. The manifestations are: severe colic in the right upper abdomen, vomiting blood (or black stool), and severe cases may lead to shock.

4. Toxic shock of cholecystitis complications: biliary tract is infected by stones and absorbs bacterial toxins. Its manifestations are: pain in the right upper abdomen, jaundice, high fever, chills, lethargy, irritability, pale face, cold limbs and decreased blood pressure.

5. Biliary pancreatitis is a complication of cholecystitis: common bile duct stones are embedded in ampulla, or duodenal papilla is damaged when discharged, which may lead to bile flowing back into pancreatic duct, thus inducing acute pancreatitis.

6. Complications of cholecystitis Gastrointestinal Biliary Fistula: Gastrointestinal Biliary Fistula is formed by stones eroding through the bile duct wall and adjacent gastrointestinal tract.

7. Complications of cholecystitis: gallbladder necrosis and perforation, biliary peritonitis: Once the gallbladder is necrotic and perforated, purulent bile flows into the abdominal cavity, causing peritonitis. This is a serious complication, especially for elderly patients. The manifestations are: sudden aggravation of abdominal pain, tenderness of abdominal muscles and rebound pain of abdominal tension.
