First of all, Montreal will have the famous bacon. Montreal bacon is made from cooked kosher beef and smoked with Canadian valley-raised brisket. Watch out for the thin, even 3 mm hand slices, usually eaten in sandwiches.
Montreal bacon originated with Jews from Eastern Europe who settled in Quebec in the late 19th century. The most famous local bacon sandwich is Schwartz's, and there's also a store in Toronto, Caplansky's Deli, that serves similar Montreal bacon!
2. Poutine (Cheese with Gravy Chips)
Don't miss it if you love French fries.A classic Quebec snack from the 1850s. This is a special way of eating fries in Canada. The fries are sprinkled with cheese curds and finished with a rich gravy. Sometimes ham, sausage or salmon is added. Even McDonald's now has Poutine, which is very popular locally.
3. Jerky
This is like the familiar beef jerky, but Pemmican jerky is a mixture of bison or moose jerky. It's very nutritious and high in protein. It was used as a special food for Arctic explorers. It was first invented and manufactured by the Native Canadians. It is a very popular snack among Canadians! Faithfulness is a must for traveling~
4. Maple Syrup (Maple Sugar)
Maple syrup can be said to be the earliest Canadian specialty that we are familiar with! It's usually served with pancakes, waffles, bacon, and more. 75-80% of the world's maple sugar is produced in Quebec. Maple syrup is also a popular gift for many friends and family back home.
5. Nanaimo Bar (commonly known as Grandma's Temple Bar)
A dessert lover must try it.Nanobars dessert originated in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island, the westernmost tip of British Columbia, and is a legendary Canadian non-baked good. It's made with whole wheat flakes, shredded coconut, walnuts, vanilla pudding and chocolate. But all North American sweets are sweet, so don't crave it.
6. British Columbia Salmon (BC Salmon)
Besides beef, Canadian seafood is also quite delicious. Produced in British Columbia on Canada's west coast, British Columbia salmon has a very different color and flavor than traditional Pacific salmon. Last year, it was designated the "provincial fish" of British Columbia, and is used as the "provincial emblem" for B.C. fish.BC salmon tastes great raw!
7. Pea Bacon
Pea bacon is a Toronto specialty, made from slow-cured tenderloin baked in pea flour. It's usually wrapped in a small round bun with mayonnaise, sliced tomatoes and lettuce.

8. Beaver Tail (Beaver Tail)
This is a Canadian fried pasta dish named for its beaver tail. U.S. President Barack Obama is also a fan of this food! During his visit to Canada, he tasted beaver tails and raved about them. It is usually sprinkled with chocolate, fruit and other condiments and eaten together.
