Zhangshu City is located in the central part of Jiangxi Province, at the southern edge of the Poyang Lake Plain, spanning both sides of the middle reaches of the Gangan River, between longitude 115°06′33″ to 115°42′23″ east and latitude 27°49′07″ to 28°09′15″ north, with a total area of 1,290.99 square kilometers. It is a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Jiangxi Province, administered by Yichun City.As of November 2022, Zhangshu City*** has 4 townships, 10 towns, 5 streets, and 1 horticultural farm, with the municipal government stationed at Kamyang Street. As of the end of 2021, Zhangshu City had a household population of 602,088, a decrease of 2,506 from the previous year.

Zhangshu City since ancient times, "the main thoroughfare of the eight provinces, Gan in the industrial and commercial downtown," said Zhegan Railway through the territory, Beijing-Kowloon Railway and 105 National Highway through the north and south, Gan-Guangdong Highway and Hu-Rui Expressway across the east and west, Zhangshu Port and Nanchang, Jiujiang Port and known as the three major ports of the Gan River. Topography and Geomorphology of Zhangshu City

Zhangshu City is located in the transition zone of Ganzhong Hills and Poyangchao Plain, which is the southern edge of Dengyangchao Plain. The terrain is flat, with rivers and streams running across the city, and there are few high mountains and valleys. The terrain of the city is slightly in the shape of a horizontal saddle.
