Celebrate Father's Day on the third Sunday in June every year. It is a festival to thank your father. At present, 52 countries and regions in the world celebrate Father's Day on this day. Father's Day began in the early 20th century and originated in America. But in the beginning, the date of Father's Day was different. In some places, dandelions were used as symbols of Father's Day, while in others, white lilacs lined with a green leaf were used as symbols of Father's Day. It was not until June 1934 that the third Sunday in June was designated as Father's Day by the United States Congress. On August 8th, 1945, Shanghai launched an activity to celebrate Father's Day, and the citizens responded immediately. After War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression's victory, celebrities from all walks of life in Shanghai jointly requested the Shanghai Municipal Government to forward it to the Central Committee, and designated August 8th as the National Father's Day.
