Participated in archaeological excavations at the Neolithic site of Weidun in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, the Shang Dynasty city site of Gucheng Town in Quanqu County, Shanxi Province, and the Neolithic site of Bancun in Mianchi County, Henan Province, as well as environmental archaeological field surveys in many areas of the Central Plains. He has presided over a number of national-level research projects on museums and cultural heritage protection and management. He was once in charge of translating and introducing new archaeological theories and methods to promote multidisciplinary and comprehensive excavation and research at the Bancun Neolithic Site. Proposed the three-stage theory of "antiques, cultural relics and cultural heritage" for the protection and inheritance of China's historical and cultural heritage. He systematically researched the status of awards in the field of culture and museums and presided over the formulation of the national top ten archaeology, top ten museum displays and exhibitions, top ten projects for cultural relics protection, and top ten persons of the year for the protection of China's cultural heritage, and other selection activities.
