The main plot: In the late 1970s, Du Juan, who is in her thirties and has the height and looks of a child, adopts a girl named Xiaoxiao. For the sake of Xiaoxiao's dream of dancing, Du Juan begins to start a snack business in the city. After several years of struggle, Du Juan's business is on the right track and she sends Xiaoxiao to a professional dance school. However, the vain Xiaoxiao begins to resent Du Juan. In order not to drag Xiaoxiao down, Du embarks on a journey to find Xiaoxiao's real parents, and a small dancing shoe left behind many years ago brings the mystery of Xiaoxiao's birth to the surface.
