Red pompano is a river fish.

Red pompano is not a sea fish, it is a freshwater fish. The red pomfret, also known as the freshwater white pomfret, resembles a pomfret in appearance, but its adult form has a black dorsal fin and a ventral fin that shines with an orange-red metallic luster.

The freshwater white pomfret was introduced into Taiwan Province of China in 1982, and then the success of artificial propagation began to promote the breeding of freshwater fishponds, introduced from Taiwan Province of Hong Kong in 1985 to Guangdong Province to try to breed in 1987 to obtain the success of artificial propagation gradually spread throughout the country, and has become one of the highest annual output of the famous special species.

Red pomfret is an omnivorous fish, digestive system is developed, with a carnivorous fish have an enlarged stomach and pyloric sac, not only ingesting small fish, shrimp and benthic animals and other animal feed, but also ingesting aquatic plants, vegetables, algae and other plant feed. It can evolve into a piranha in times of exceptional hunger and physical scarcity.
