Extraction and characterization of bovine serum albumin
Anti-gelatin phase transfer method:

The phase transfer of bovine serum albumin (BSA) was carried out using a CTAB/n-octanol:trichloromethane (4:1V/V ) anti-gelatin system, and the extraction mechanism of BSA in the cationic surfactant system was explored by changing the pH value of the aqueous phase of the extraction system, the ionic strength, the volume ratio of the two liquid phases, the small molecular sugars (glucose, sucrose), and the co-surfactants (straight-chained alcohol molecules). The extraction mechanism of BSA in the cationic surfactant system was investigated. The results showed that the extraction rate could reach 97% and the back-extraction rate reached 85% when the appropriate conditions were selected for the extraction of BSA, and an effective method was found to realize the separation and purification of bovine serum albumin.
