Allicin is the main bioactive effective component in perennial herb garlic of Liliaceae. Allicin used as feed additive is generally a premix made of synthetic garlic oil, which has many functions:

(1) bactericidal effect Allicin has good inhibitory and killing effects on Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, etc., which cause animal diseases, especially on digestive tract diseases and diseases (such as viral diseases) that are not effectively prevented by general drugs.

(2) Improve the palatability of feed, and the special smell of allicin can play a role in attracting food. The feed intake can be improved because of poor palatability or the addition of some preventive drugs. It has a good effect on improving the feed intake of fattening meat rabbits and realizing eating more and growing faster.

(3) Improving the production performance of allicin can not only increase the feed intake of animals, but also prevent and treat various diseases and improve immune function; Improve the tissue function of various systems in animals, promote gastrointestinal peristalsis and secretion of various digestive enzymes; Improve the digestion and utilization of feed by animals, thus improving production performance and reducing feed cost.

(4) Improving the environment of barns. Allicin can be turned into allicin under the action of enzymes and excreted in the form of feces, which can prevent the reproduction and growth of harmful microorganisms in feces and improve the environment of barns.

Adding allicin to feed at the concentration of 0. 1% and 0.2% has a good effect on controlling diarrhea in weaned rabbits. The effects of the two concentrations are close, so the addition amount of 0. 1% is enough. Allicin is an ideal substitute for antibiotics to prevent diseases. But it should not be used at the same time with probiotic products.
