Generally, puppies defecate about 30 minutes after eating, or 15 minutes after drinking. People can pay special attention at this time. If you find your dog sniffing around on the floor, be on high alert, he's looking for a place to go to the bathroom.

Dogs usually have a bowel movement (both pee and poo) when they wake up in the morning, so you can carry your dog to the place where you want him to go to the bathroom when he wakes up, and let him stay there for a while while, while also saying "hurry up" and so on in a special tone of voice to your dog.

Last but not least, Leroy's Pet Station reminds us that puppies defecate many, many times, and most people like to start them off by letting them go on a diaper pad or newspaper. Some dogs will use diaper pads, but some just really hate the stuff. A friend's dog would tear the pads to shreds. I ended up going with newspaper.

At first, the dog didn't know that the newspaper was for him to defecate, so he used the newspaper to soak up his pee, and then put the soaked up pee on the top of a lot of newspapers (about 7 or 8), and don't throw it away, and then the next time you see the dog sniffing around, pick him up in time and place him on the newspaper, and he'll sniff the one that is already dry, and you'll have to be there to keep watch, and then, if he runs out, you'll just grab him back and put him on the newspaper. If he runs out, grab him back and put him on the newspaper.

After that, all you have to do is pick up your dog and put him on the newspaper as soon as you see him going to the bathroom (sniffing around) or in the middle of going to the bathroom (in the wrong place). Every day, leave a newspaper with his feces on the laid newspaper, usually after a few days, the dog will know that he has to go to the newspaper to solve the problem. Once he is familiar with it, congratulations, the first step is a success. You can now put clean newspaper on the floor every day, because your dog knows to smell the newspaper to go to the bathroom.

The next step is simpler, you need to slowly reduce the size of the newspaper (from two newspapers, to one newspaper, to half a newspaper). And you can slowly change the place where the newspaper is, move the newspaper slowly towards the door or toilet, when the dog is used to go to the toilet on the newspaper at the door or toilet, you can take the newspaper away, the dog will go to the door or toilet to find the newspaper when he wants to go to the toilet.

Of course you can go outside to the toilet on behalf of your dog as soon as you see him move to the toilet. Then you can start by picking 5 basically fixed times of the day to take your puppy out. (It's best to pick a time 20 to 30 minutes after your dog has eaten.) If your dog acts like he wants to go potty outside of the 5 times, you'll have to take him out as well. These will be extra and not within the 5 times. When time passes the dog will know that those 5 times are for him to go potty. Keep using the potty command you gave him outside until he is done. When finished, you better pet him and give verbal encouragement and praise to let them know they did it right. Since dogs have a biological clock, it's best that 5 times are more regular. This way the dog will realize that when they go outside they have to go potty first.

After your dog can fully utilize these 5 times to complete their elimination tasks and is not going potty in the house, you can stick with this for a while and then you can slowly change the times from 5 to 3.
