Every year in June and July, there will be a continuous cloudy and rainy climate in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, Taiwan Province and other places in China. Because it is the mature period of plums in the south of the Yangtze River, it is called "Meiyu", and this period is called Meiyu season.
At present, the academic circles believe that the East Asian summer monsoon began with the outbreak of the South China Sea summer monsoon (in late May on average), which belongs to the category of tropical southwest monsoon. The South China Sea summer monsoon gradually increased northward, and it was carried northward to the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River during the meiyu period, which merged with the subtropical southwest monsoon on the northwest side of the subtropical high, converged with cold air, and converged with wind speed to form a meiyu belt.
In the rainy season, the air humidity is high, the temperature is high, and clothes are prone to mildew, so some people call the rainy season "mildew rain" with the same sound. After the rainy rainy rainy season, the weather began to be dominated by the subtropical high in the Pacific Ocean and officially entered the hot summer.
Extended data:
Causes of rainy season:
Every year from late April to early May, cold air from the north and warm air from the south converge in South China, forming a quasi-static front in South China. By the end of May, the influence of warm air was strengthened, and the quasi-static front moved northward to the Jianghuai area, becoming the quasi-static front of Jianghuai (also known as Meiyu front).
Because warm air from the south carries a lot of water vapor, when it meets a colder air mass, it will produce a lot of convection activities. Because of the equal influence of cold and warm air during this period, the front stays in Jianghuai area.
Typical plum rains generally "enter the plum blossom" in the middle to late June, and bloom in the early to middle July. Plum shower refers to the rainy days before plum blossom, which usually begins in mid-April and lasts for about half a month.
