Chongqing Wulong Karst Tourism (Group) Co., Ltd. held a media communication meeting of "Wulong Scenic Area v. Change 4 for breach of contract" in Beijing yesterday, and notified the formal prosecution of Transformers 4: Extinction and Rebirth. On July 22nd, Wulong Scenic Area filed a civil complaint with Chongqing No.3 Intermediate People's Court, suing Paramount Pictures of America and 1905 (Beijing) Network Technology Co., Ltd. as the first and second defendants respectively. Wulong Scenic Area requires the film side of Change 4 to bear the liability for breach of contract such as compensation for losses. At present, the court has accepted the litigation materials.
The main lawsuit filed by Wulong Scenic Area includes four aspects: First, it requires Paramount Pictures of the United States to take remedial measures to add and correctly display the logo of "China Wulong" when its film "Change 4" is released on DVD carrier or broadcast on TV and digital broadcasting platform; 2. Ask the producer of Change 4 to refund the contract money paid by the plaintiff of RMB 4.8 million, which reportedly accounts for 80% of the total amount payable; 3. Require the producers of "Change 4" to bear the economic loss of Wulong Scenic Area, that is, the direct economic loss caused by closing the scenic area in cooperation with "Change 4" is 4 million yuan; Fourth, ask the film "Change 4" to compensate the reasonable expected interest loss of Wulong Scenic Area120,000 yuan.
Regarding the outside world's doubts about Wulong's hype, Wulong said that Wulong only wanted to present the controversial truth and did not handle the incident by interfering with the film release and other more eye-catching ways. Because "Change 4" did not "reflect the brand and landscape of Wulong scenic spot through scene shooting and lines, and highlight the logo of China Wulong in the form of logo" as agreed in the cooperation agreement, many people thought that Wulong was just a suburb of Hong Kong, and even other scenic spots appeared.
And once Paramount loses the case, can it really be compensated? According to lawyer Wulong, the lawsuit is not transnational, but applicable to China. Wulong will apply for legal means to take measures against the China box office of Change 4, and once Paramount loses the case, it will pay compensation with the box office proceeds.
