Please make an appointment in advance before entering the park. Guyi Garden is located in Nanxiang Town, Jiading District, the northwest suburb of Shanghai. It was built during the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty. Its original name was "Yiyuan", which was taken from the sentence "Green Bamboo Yiyi" in The Book of Songs. In the 11th year of Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty (1746), it was renamed "Guyi Garden". It is one of the five classical gardens in Shanghai.
