How to plant lotus roots in saline-alkali land
In recent years, we have studied the techniques of planting lotus roots in ponds along the saline-alkali land in Huangbeihewa, and the yield of lotus roots 1000 ~ 1400 kg per mu. The cultivation techniques are summarized as follows. I. Water level control in the lotus pond 1. When planting lotus roots, there should not be too much water in the pond. Generally keep it at 5- 10 cm, and don't water it after cutting. After 3-5 days, a small amount of water is poured after the mud surface cracks, which can promote the close combination of lotus roots and lotus seedlings with the soil and not float. According to the observation, compared with the water depth of 0.2m in the early stage of the lotus pond, the lotus root leaves later (the terminal bud of the seed lotus root leaves the earliest, with a small shape and thin handle, floating on the water, called "money leaf" and "lotus money") for 7- 10 days. 2, early watering, not too much at a time, otherwise the soil temperature plummeted, slowing down the growth of seedlings, and even flooding. The water level should gradually increase with the growth of vertical leaves and floating leaves. The temperature is high in summer, and there are many southeast winds. Lotus root grows fast, with large evaporation and easy to lose water. Need to replenish water according to the specific situation. When adding water, the added water temperature should be roughly the same as the pond water temperature, otherwise it will affect the development of lotus root. 4. In late autumn and early winter, the lotus root has stopped growing, so it is not necessary to water it frequently, so as not to cause the lotus root to rot, but there must be a small amount of water in the lotus pond. When the lotus root comes out of the pond, it should be kept moist. After the main lotus root leaves the pond, a small amount of water should be added to facilitate the water demand of lotus root during dormancy and germination in the next spring. Second, choose the appropriate lotus root varieties. The terminal bud of lotus root is called "lotus root" or "shower head". Lotus root is covered with scales, and after germination, white slender underground stems are drawn out, which is called "lotus root whip" or "lotus root belt". Lotus root usually has 6-9 knots, in which Ye Ting is pulled out of the water. After the end of July, several sections of the lotus root with the tip drilled into the deep mud to form a new lotus root, which is called the "main lotus root". There are 4-7 lotus root tubes when it grows vigorously, and 2-3 when it grows weakly. The branch lotus root growing on the main lotus root node is called "sub-lotus root" with only 2-3 nodes, and the small lotus root growing from the larger sub-lotus root node is called "sun lotus root" with only one node. Zhou Lotus is one of the excellent varieties in the lotus system, which is bred through experiments, with few flowers and high lotus yield. 3. The planting method and time of lotus root are 1. The best breeding method of lotus root is pit pond, and the whole lotus root or main lotus root is used as seed lotus root for cultivation, which has high yield and quick effect. When planting lotus roots, first shallow the water, turn the mud over and rake it flat, apply sufficient fertilizer, and protect the lotus roots and terminal buds with your hands. The lotus roots will all point to the center of the pool to facilitate the development of underground stems. When planting, the lotus root will be slightly buried in the mud and covered with solid mud to prevent floating after irrigation. 2. March 28th to April 6th every year is the best time to plant lotus roots. At this time, the terminal bud of lotus root began to sprout. If the temperature is too low and too early, the lotus root planted alone is prone to freezing injury. If the buds germinate too late, the money leaves will break easily, which will affect the survival. Even if it can grow into seedlings, it will delay the growth of lotus root.
