The stems, leaves and flowers of basil have a strong fennel flavor, so it is also called basil. When used in cooking, it has the function of removing fishy smell and enhancing fragrance. When used as medicine, it has the functions of expelling wind, relieving exterior syndrome, eliminating dampness and regulating qi, promoting blood circulation and detoxifying, and reducing swelling.

In fact, the family of basil is also very large. At present, the common varieties are sweet basil, purple basil, lettuce leaf basil, octagonal basil, short basil, green basil, milo basil, short purple basil and clove basil.

The tender stems and leaves of basil can be used not only as seasoning, but also as main course, cold salad, stir-fry or soup, and can also be eaten after being wrapped in batter and fried.
