Zejiao (rhizome) is also one of the traditional Chinese medicines. According to Chinese medicine theory, it is cold in nature and has the effect of inducing water and seeping dampness. Modern medical research, diarrhea can reduce serum total cholesterol and triacylglycerol content, slow down the formation of atherosclerosis; diarrhea and its preparations are also used in the treatment of vertigo in the inner ear, dyslipidemia, spermatorrhea, fatty liver and diabetes mellitus.
Effects: Facilitating urination, clearing dampness and heat. Used for: urinary incontinence, edema and distension, diarrhea and urination, phlegm and vertigo, hot shower and astringent pain; hyperlipidemia.

Zelda's roleDiuresis of water and seepage of dampness
For the water and dampness of the urine, edema, diarrhea, and dampness and heat of gonorrhea and other certificates. It is often used with atractylodes macrocephala to treat water retention in the stomach. It is also used to treat astringent pain in the urethra and dysuria by combining with Mutong and Poria.
Lipid-lowering effect
The fat-soluble part of Alisolide has obvious cholesterol-lowering effect and anti-atherosclerotic effect on rabbits with experimental hypercholesterolemia, and the isolated Alisolide A, B, and Alisolide A, B, and C acetic esters, in addition to the Alisolide B, have significant cholesterol-lowering effect. The content of 0.1% added to the feed of experimental hyperlipidemia rats, can make the blood cholesterol decreased by more than 50%, of which the effect of Alisol A-24-acetate is the strongest. The ethanol extract and ethyl acetate extract of the ethanol extract of Alisol have hypolipidemic effects on experimental hypercholesterolemic rabbits and rats.
Effects on the cardiovascular system
Zelodea extract administered intravenously to dogs and rabbits had a mild hypotensive effect and lasted for about 30 minutes or so. The antihypertensive effect of zelda morinol on various experimental animals was mild and did not significantly affect plasma renin and ACE activity or aldosterone levels. Alcoholic extracts of zeylanol had a slow relaxing effect on adrenaline-induced conditioned contraction of isolated rabbit aorta in vitro. Zelenolol inhibited the contraction of rabbit aortic strips induced by angiotensin in a dose-dependent manner. Zelenamol was seen to decrease cardiac output and heart rate and left ventricular pressure with the isolated heart perfusion technique, but increased coronary flow.
