Duck tongue grass

Bitter bark vine is a plant of the genus Austropodiaceae. It is distributed in China's rice-growing areas, as well as in the Yangtze River Basin and southern regions.

Aquatic herbs; rhizomes are very short and have soft fibrous roots. The stems are upright or slanted, 12 to 35 cm high. The whole plant is smooth and hairless, with basal leaves or stem leaves. The shape and size of the leaves vary greatly, from heart-shaped to broadly oval, long oval to lanceolate, 2 to 7 cm long and 0.8 to 5 cm wide. The top is short and pointed or acuminate, the base is round or shallow heart-shaped, and the entire edge has arc-shaped veins. The petiole is 10 to 20 cm long, and the base is expanded into a cleft sheath. The sheath is 2~4cm long, with a tongue at the top, about 0.7~1cm long. Racemes emerge from the middle of the petioles. Here the petiole expands into a sheath.

Efficacy and effects of Hedyotis diffusa

Hedyotis diffusa is bitter and cool in nature, and has the effect of clearing away heat and detoxifying. Treat dysentery, enteritis, acute tonsillitis, erysipelas, boils, etc.

1. Treatment of hematemesis: one to two doses of White Snake. Lean pork stew.

2. To treat red and white dysentery: appropriate amount of duck tongue, dried in the sun. Drink tea every day for three to four days.

3. Treatment of boils: Apply tongue and tung oil to the affected area.

4. Tooth extraction: two yuan for water hosta, two yuan for hosta root, one yuan for letter stone, and one carp. Grind the first three herbs together into fine powder, remove the intestines of the fish, apply the medicine and sew it up, and hang it in a cool and ventilated place for about 50 days. 5. Treatment of snake and insect bites: fresh duck tongue, mashed.
