Hainan is the earliest litchi producing area in China, which has seasonal advantages. The early, middle and late-maturing varieties are 20 ~ 30 days earlier than the corresponding varieties in Chinese mainland, and their prices are high. Litchi in Hainan is mainly sold fresh and rarely used for processing. The domestic markets are mainly Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, and the international markets are mainly Southeast Asian and European countries.
Hainan is also one of the origins of litchi, and has cultivated a number of excellent varieties and characteristic plants with strong adaptability, such as Ziniangxi, Goose Egg Pear, Lilac and Seedless Litchi. Local varieties such as seedless litchi and Ziniangxi have developed well in recent years.
