How to treat cysts on the liver and what treatment methods are available?
Single or multiple cysts, no clinical symptoms, should be regular ultrasound observation, cysts more than 5 centimeters in size can be considered in the ultrasound-guided puncture suction cystic fluid injection of sclerosing agent treatment. Large or limited cysts with secondary infection often require surgical treatment, and the liver should be avoided to avoid rupture of the cyst. For isolated liver cysts, unless there are complications such as rupture of the cyst, torsion of the cystic pedicle or intracystic hemorrhage, which require emergency surgical treatment, elective surgery needs to be based on the size and location of the cyst, as well as the patient's general condition and self-awareness of the symptoms. Isolated asymptomatic liver cysts found occasionally during physical examination can be treated conservatively with ultrasonography and regular observation, but malignant changes need to be guarded against. Large liver cysts with symptoms are best treated surgically, as conservative treatments such as puncture and aspiration are usually prone to recurrence and may cause bacterial contamination. Polycystic liver is usually treated nonsurgically, and because it involves the entire liver, it cannot be cured except by liver transplantation. However, in cases of polycystic liver, surgical decompression may be considered when the hepatomegaly compresses the chest and abdomen and interferes with respiratory circulation. Depending on the specific conditions, the following surgical methods can be used: 1. hepatectomy; 2. cystectomy; 3. cyst opening or major cystectomy; 4. cyst internal drainage; View original post>>
