Silkworms go through 4 stages in their life, namely egg, larvae, pupa and adult. The total development time is about 56 days. However, this only represents domestic silkworms. Wild silkworms require five stages, namely silkworm eggs, ant silkworms, mature silkworms, silkworm cocoons and silkworm moths. The total growth time is about 50 days. Different stages have a corresponding relationship. Generally, they start eating two to three days after the eggs mature, and the main time is during the larval stage. 1. Eggs and silkworm eggs
Eggs correspond to silkworm eggs, and the time for them is almost the same. Under normal circumstances, silkworm eggs can be eaten in two to three days. The two to three days represent the evolutionary period of the egg. When the silkworm eggs start eating, it has evolved into larvae and ant silkworms. However, before the eggs start eating, there is still an incubation process. During this process, the silkworm eggs will change color. Generally, it takes about 10 days in spring, but it will be shorter in summer, about 8 days. 2. Larvae stage
The second stage of silkworms is the larvae, which corresponds to the ant silkworm and mature silkworm stages. Generally speaking, this stage lasts from 15 days to 25 days. It is divided into one to five instars. The first instar lasts about four to five days; the second instar lasts three to four days; the third instar lasts four days; the fourth instar lasts six days; and the fifth instar lasts the longest, about seven to nine days. Therefore, the general larval period is about 15 to 25 days. The specific time depends on the situation. Some times are longer, and some times are shorter. If the time is short, it will enter the pupa stage quickly, and if the time is long, it will enter the pupa stage more slowly. 3. Pupa and moth
The pupa corresponds to the cocoon, and the adult corresponds to the moth stage. Generally speaking, the pupal stage lasts fourteen to eighteen days, which is more than half a month. The moth season is relatively short, only three to five days. Overall, the life of a silkworm is only fifty to sixty days, about two months. The silkworms will then enter reincarnation again and start the next generation of reproduction. Silkworms basically evolve throughout their lives, and their true adult stage is very short.
