Smart and pleasant.

Onion means smart and good at studying; baked fruit means "must pass the exam"; water chestnut means "smart and pleasant"; apple means "peace". These "fancy" learning customs, and another thing that many parents will do, is to wear new clothes and new shoes for their children, hoping that their children will have a new look, new progress, and achieve new results in the new semester!
