Signs of early bone cancer

1)Systemic symptoms

Bone tumors can occur at any age, but in a particular age, there is a tendency to develop a certain kind of tumor. For example, infants are prone to neuroblastoma involving bones commonly, juveniles are more likely to have Ewing's tumor, adults are giant cell tumor and osteosarcoma, and the elderly are medullary tumor and metastatic tumor.

Early bone tumors have few systemic symptoms, and in the late stage, if there is pain, it can affect appetite, wasting and anemia. Malignant for the occurrence of ulceration, can intercept the infection, leading to malignant body. Rapid growth, such as Ewing's tumor, can be accompanied by fever, increased white blood cell count, like osteomyelitis.

Because the nature of the tumor itself also affects the systemic symptoms. Osteochondroma, myeloma and metastatic tumors are often multiple; hemangioma, neurofibroma multiple subcutaneous or superficial; multiple bone fibrous heterogeneous hyperplasia (Albnghl-syndrome) and neurofibromatosis (VonRecklinghausen's disease) have endocrinopathic symptoms.

2)Local manifestations

(1)Skin and bone Benign tumors usually have no obvious skin changes and no adhesions. After rapid growth, the skin cortex can be compressed, the texture is bright, and there may be pigmentation changes. Malignant tumors are localized skin pallor, pincer, congestion, temperature can be increased, and there are adhesions.

(2)Masses Note the depth, size, hardness, contour, surface, mobility, skin temperature, pressure pain and rotation of the mass. It is not advisable to pinch and squeeze to avoid metastasis. Benign tumors are generally hard, with clear margins, mild tenderness, and may be nodular. Malignant tumors are hard and rubbery, with obvious tenderness, unclear margins, and a sense of rotation.

(3)Deformity Due to the growth age, location, tumor nature and other factors, can cause deformity. For example, multiple chondrosarcoma may affect the growth, and the limbs may be bent and unequal in length. Endogenous chondrosarcoma may cause deformity of small bones of hands and feet due to swelling. Tumor invasion and epiphyseal plate can also cause developmental abnormalities.
