The Journey to the West, one of the Four Great Classical Novels of China, is the first full-length romanticized novel about gods and demons in ancient China, written by the Ming Dynasty novelist Wu Cheng'en. It mainly depicts the story of Sun Wukong, Pigsy, Sha Monk and White Dragon Horse, the four disciples of Emperor Taizong Zhenguan of the Tang Dynasty, who protected the Tang Monk on his journey westward to obtain the scriptures, and along the way, they went through nine hundred and eighty-one difficulties, subduing demons and subduing devils along the way, and turning dangers into difficulties, and finally arrived at the Western Heaven and obtained the true scriptures. It is based on the poems of the Three Tibetans of the Tang Dynasty and Han Chinese folklore.
