Dongzao, also known as Frozen Jujube, Yanlaihong, Apple Jujube and Rock Sugar Jujube, is currently recognized as a fresh and high-quality cultivated variety. The fruit of Dongzao jujube is nearly round, with smooth surface, like a small apple, juicy and sweet and slightly sour. Winter jujube is rich in nutrition. The pulp of Dongzao jujube is rich in 19 amino acids and vitamins A, B, C, D, etc., and the content of vitamin C is relatively high.
First, growth habits
Jujube: a positive tree species in warm temperate zone. A sunny and dry climate. Cold, heat, drought and waterlogging tolerance. The requirements for soil are not strict. Besides swamps and alkaline soils, plains, sandy land, valleys and mountains can all grow. The adaptive range of pH is between 5.5 and 8.5, and fertile slightly alkaline or neutral sandy loam grows best. Developed root system and strong tillering ability. Smoke resistance. Not resistant to water mist.
Winter jujube: the main bud has strong germination ability, the secondary branches are easy to grow in polarity, the jujube hanging stops growing late, the early flowering and early fruiting are strong, the natural fruit setting rate is low, the tree body grows greatly, and the jujube flowers bloom at night.
Second, the difference of fruit color
When the winter jujube is ripe, the sunny side is red, and the other parts are bluish white. The whole jujube is big red when it is ripe and redder when it is dry. Maturity: Winter jujube ripens later than common jujube,1mid-October, when the weather is cold. Jujube can ripen in summer. Tasting: Dongzao jujube has large fruit, thin skin and crisp flesh. And the fruit of jujube is very small.
Third, the maturity is different.
Winter jujube ripens later than ordinary jujube, probably when the weather turns cold in early October of every year 10, and the varieties that ripen earlier also ripen in early September. Jujube generally blooms in late spring, matures in summer and almost disappears in autumn.
Fourth, different tastes.
Winter jujube has large fruit, thin skin and crisp flesh. Jujube trees have smaller fruit and bigger stone.
