Is it illegal to eat farmed giant salamander?
It is not illegal to eat giant salamanders that have been artificially bred for more than two generations.

According to Article 4 of the Law of the People's Republic of China on the Protection of Wild Animals, the state implements the policy of strengthening the protection of resources, actively domesticating and breeding, and rationally developing and utilizing wild animals. Article 17 stipulates that the state encourages the domestication and breeding of wild animals, but it should hold relevant licenses. According to the above relevant laws and regulations, the artificially bred giant salamander is edible.

It should be emphasized that only the giant salamander with more than the second generation can be eaten, developed and utilized. That is to say, after the wild giant salamander is bred, it is called the first generation and cannot be eaten, and the next generation is called the second generation, that is, the "grandson" giant salamander, which can be eaten and developed. The prerequisite is that the operator must hold the aquatic wild animal business license, the copy of the aquatic wild animal domestication certificate, the transportation certificate and other relevant documents approved and issued by the fishery administration department, and apply to the fishery administration department where the operation is located before selling the giant salamander.
