The medicinal value and planting technology of Yanghe, also known as Minghe and Minghe

Medicinal value:

According to the "Compendium of Materia Medica", Yanghe can not only be eaten as a vegetable, but also has the functions of promoting blood circulation and regulating menstruation, antitussive and expectorant, reducing swelling and detoxification, eliminating accumulation and strengthening the stomach. It has special effects on treating constipation and diabetes, and has high medicinal value.

Yanghe contains a variety of amino acids, proteins and rich cellulose. The cellulose contained is also a polysaccharide nutrient that does not produce heat energy. Regular consumption is beneficial to keeping the digestive tract smooth and normal. It has the function of defecation, can treat constipation, eliminate stagnation and strengthen the stomach, and has special effects on diabetes. Therefore, Yanghe is a pure natural dietary fiber food that can be used both as food and medicine.

Planting technology:

1. Choose a suitable planting environment. According to the survey, Yanghe likes a fertile, loose, moist and cool environment, is more tolerant of shade, and is intolerant of high temperatures and strong light. Therefore, for large-scale planting of sun lotus, it is best to choose high mountain areas with abundant rainfall, more clouds and fog, cool summers, and high soil organic matter content. Large-scale planting of sun lotus in low mountains must be interplanted with trees or tall crops, otherwise it will not be easy to succeed.

2. Apply enough base fertilizer and heavy farmyard manure. Yanghe is planted in one year and benefits for many years. To obtain high yield and efficiency, sufficient base fertilizer must be applied, and farmyard manure must be applied according to the growth needs of Yanghe. Generally, 4,000-5,000 kilograms of soil fertilizer or manure and 50 kilograms of compound fertilizer (or 40 kilograms of superphosphate and 10 kilograms of potassium sulfate) are applied per acre. It is better to apply the base fertilizer deeply in trenches, and the flat ground can also be spread evenly and then plowed deeply. On mountainous slopes, it is best to open a trench with a width of 60-80 cm and a depth of 40-50 cm along the horizontal line, spread the base fertilizer in the trench, then backfill the topsoil and transplant the sun lotus.

3. Propagate by division and close planting reasonably. Yang He mainly propagates by dividing stems. When dividing the stems, note that each stem must contain 2-3 complete buds. Transplanting can be carried out from September to October in autumn or from March to April in spring. Planting is carried out in large and small rows, with large row spacing of 60 cm, small row spacing and plant spacing of 30 cm, and about 3,300 vines per mu.

4. Post-planting management and harvesting. After the Yanghe is planted, water should be poured enough to set the roots. Summer temperatures in low mountains are high and light is strong, so proper shading must be considered in the first year of planting. After the transplants survive, after the seedlings emerge every spring, the seedlings are lifted with dilute manure and water once in combination with cultivating and weeding to promote strong and consistent growth of the seedlings. Every year before the buds are unearthed, "bud" fertilizer must be applied again to promote the buds to enlarge and improve quality and yield. Before overwintering, combine deep plowing with 2,000-3,000 kilograms of farmyard manure and 50 kilograms of compound fertilizer (or 40 kilograms of superphosphate and 10 kilograms of potassium sulfate) to ensure that the plants survive the winter safely and increase the yield in the coming year.

When harvesting sun lotus, you should break off the buds after they are unearthed but before they bloom. If harvested too early, the quality will be good but the yield will be low; if harvested too late, the fiber will become thicker and the variety will deteriorate. Generally, 1,000-1,500 kilograms of buds can be harvested per mu, with a market price of 2-3 yuan per kilogram and an output value of about 3,000 yuan per mu. Since Yanghe cultivation can be harvested continuously for many years in one year, except for the large investment in the first year, the annual investment in the following years is relatively low, and the benefits are considerable. The rhizomes of sun lotus

After 3-4 years of continuous harvesting of sun lotus, part of the seeds should be dug out and divided properly. On the one hand, it can prevent the stems from being damaged due to excessive density, and on the other hand, the dug out stems can be used. The planting area is expanded.

It is worth noting that when Yanghe is cultivated sporadically, there are fewer diseases and insect pests. However, when cultivated in large areas, the diseases become significantly worse after several years of continuous cultivation. Therefore, when abnormal death of plant leaves is found, the roots should be immediately irrigated with fungicides such as thiophanate, diclofenac, and transplanting spirit, and "green milk copper" should be sprayed on the leaves for protection.
