Coleseed oil and linseed oil are the same kind of oil.
Because of the different production processes, caraway seed oil is divided into hot-pressed and cold-pressed two kinds. In order to distinguish the difference between cold-pressed and hot-pressed, the cold-pressed will be called linseed oil, hot-pressed is called caraway oil. But in fact both cold-pressed and hot-pressed can be called caraway oil or linseed oil.
According to China's national standard for linseed oil (GB/T 8235-2008), the main linolenic acid content of linseed oil is 39.0% to 62.0%.
Advantages of cold pressing process: retained almost all the nutrients in the caraway seed, taste fresh and non-greasy, rich in unsaturated fatty acids. Disadvantages of cold pressing process: oil yield is really low, the cost is relatively high.
The advantages of the hot press process: caraway seed oil taste rich and fragrant, the flavor is relatively strong. Disadvantages of the hot pressing process: high temperature frying will reduce the active ingredients in the oil.
This is why the average price of cold-pressed caraway oil on the market is higher, and the average price of hot-pressed caraway oil on the market is lower.
