Asteraceae, annual herb, the plant is more or less yellowish green. Stem erect, 50~120cm high, with longitudinal stripes, more or less sparsely covered with long stiff hairs, the upper part of the branches. Lower leaves oblanceolate, apex pointed or acuminate, base attenuate into a stalk, margin remotely serrate or entire, middle and upper leaves smaller, linear-lanceolate or linear, sparsely covered with short hairs. Heads 3~4mm in diameter, arranged in terminal multi-branched panicles; involucre subterete; involucral bracts 2~3-layered, yellowish green, linear-lanceolate or linear, apex acuminate; crown hairs dirty white. Flowering and fruiting from May to October. Seed reproduction, overwintering by seedlings or seeds. Native to North America, now widely distributed throughout. Distributed throughout our country, it is one of the most widely distributed invasive species in China.
