"Shilaoren" is a stone pillar, with a height of17m and a distance of about100m from the shore. Seen from the northwest, this strange stone in the sea looks like an old man sitting in the blue sea, and is called "Stone Old Man". It is located in the easternmost part of Shilaoren Beach in Laoshan District, Qingdao, southwest of Shilaoren Village.

Shilaoren is located in Qingdao Shilaoren National Tourism Resort, in the golden zone on the west side of Shilaoren Village. Sea erosion column is a geological phenomenon that seawater erodes the coast. The horizontal flow of seawater constantly impacts the rock wall, and under the combined action of tide, gravity and crustal activity, the rock mass gradually peels off, forming sea cliffs, Haimen and sea caves.

Millions of years of wind and wave erosion and impact caused the bedrock coast at the foot of Laoshan Mountain to collapse and retreat, and it was ground into fine sand and deposited in the gentle Dajiangkou Bay. Only the solid stone pillar of the stone old man is left, which is the shape of today. Looking from the northwest, this strange stone in the sea looks very much like an old man, lifelike, and the beautiful and moving legend about this strange stone has attracted many tourists to watch it.
