Introduction to runner beans

Phaseolus multiflorus (scientific name: Phaseolus multiflorus) is a cultivated species in the genus Phaseolus of the Leguminosae family and is an annual or perennial herbaceous plant. It is named because of its large number of flowers. Alias: large white kidney beans, large pinto beans, large black beans, and pinto beans. It is used for grain, vegetables, feed, fertilizer and ornamental purposes. Originating from Mexico or Central America, it has been cultivated in Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan and other provinces of China for a long time. There are three types of germplasm resources of Chinese flowered kidney beans: large white kidney bean, large flowered kidney bean and large black kidney bean. About 80 resources have been collected. In China, Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan, Shanxi and other provinces plant more seeds, with a grain yield of 1000-3000kg per hectare. Dried beans are generally eaten and can be prepared in various ways, including cooking, making soups, cakes, bean paste, cans, etc. The young pods are used as vegetables, and the stems and leaves are used as livestock feed.
