The Food Safety Law of the People’s Republic of China was officially implemented in 2009. The "Food Safety Law of the People's Republic of China" is formulated to ensure food safety and protect public health and life safety. Adopted at the seventh meeting of the Standing Committee of the Eleventh National People's Congress on February 28, 2009. On April 24, 2015, the 14th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 12th National People's Congress revised Huikai. It was revised in accordance with the Decision on Amending Five Laws including the "People's Republic of China and Domestic Product Quality Law" at the seventh meeting of the Standing Committee of the 13th National People's Congress on December 29, 2018.

However, the market sales of edible agricultural products, the formulation of relevant quality and safety standards, the publication of relevant safety information and the provisions of this Law on agricultural inputs shall comply with the provisions of this Law.
