God of Food is a drama series directed by Hu Mingkai, Yao Tiantang, and Leung Tak Wah and starring Zheng Zeshi.
It tells the story of Zhao Shiliang, a gifted chef who is determined to make a name for himself as the royal chef, but gets caught up in the power struggle and "cooks" his way out of trouble, and lives a life of hiding for decades before finally realizing the true meaning of food.
The drama is an eye-opening introduction to the secret cooking techniques, strange and bizarre dishes, and ways to savor the flavors of Chinese folklore and palaces.
Synopsis
The drama focuses on Zhao Shiliang (played by Zheng Zeshi), the young master of the Zhao residence in the capital, who is idle and often hangs out at the casino, but because the kitchen of the Zhao residence is very famous in the capital, he has developed a gourmet's mouth since he was a child, and he is very picky about his food, but he only knows how to taste it but not how to make it! Zhao has a friend Zhou Wu (played by Xu Jinjiang), who grew up with him in the palace, serving as the commander of the palace guards.
He was able to visit the palace, and inadvertently encountered Prince Qianlong, who had not yet ascended to the throne, playing soccer, and became friends with him! Later, Zhao Shiliang died of his parents' anger because of the casino, which made Zhao's family decline and be oppressed by outsiders. Zhao Shiliang regained his strength and practiced hard on his cooking skills and competed with the chef of the first building in the world, and finally won 2 out of 3 games, which made Zhao's family regained the prosperity of the past. Zhao Shiliang went to the palace to enlist the Imperial Chef, and finally eliminated many of the opponents to become an imperial chef, and became an imperial chef in charge of the chef by virtue of his own craftsmanship and mind, which was y loved by Qianlong.
