Metapenaeus ensis is a new prawn, which belongs to the genus Neoprawn. The obvious difference is that it has no serrations below its forehead. Metapenaeus ensis is light brown, and his body is covered with dense light brown spots.

The bamboo shrimp is called Penaeus japonicus, which is slightly larger than metapenaeus ensis, and has bright patterns, and teeth on the upper and lower foreheads: the bamboo shrimp has blue-brown horizontal spots on its body surface, and its tail tip is blue.
