1. Select cutting time:
The best cutting time is in spring and autumn, when the temperature is suitable, which is conducive to rooting. High temperature in summer and low temperature in winter make cuttings easy to turn black and rot, which is not conducive to rooting.
2. Select cutting:
The top cuttings of about 10 cm should be selected, and the ones with vigorous growth and easy rooting are better. The cuttings that have just been cut can be dried in the shade for a period of time, and then cut after the wound has recovered, so as to avoid infection and decay of the wound.
3. Cutting:
The best substrate for cutting geranium is loose and breathable sandy loam. When cutting, the room temperature is kept at about 13- 18℃, and it takes about two to three weeks to take root. When cutting, the base of cuttings can be soaked in 0.0 1% indoleacetic acid solution for 2 seconds, which can improve the survival rate and rooting rate of cuttings.
4. Post-management:
After cutting, move the potted plants to a semi-shady place, keep the room temperature at about 13- 18℃, and take root at about 14-2 1. When the roots grow to 3-4 cm, they can be transplanted into potted plants.
Generally speaking, the survival rate can be improved by choosing the right time and environment, as well as the right substrate and cuttings.
