Meretrix meretrix (essence)
Allonym clam (single stroke), yellow clam (modern practical Chinese medicine), round clam (compilation of medicinal materials), and Blake (annals of Chinese medicine).
The source is the shell of Meretrix meretridae.

The medicinal shell is slightly triangular, protruding outward, and the outside is gray-white. There are brown or silver-gray wheel marks near the top of the shell or covered with brown film, which is smooth and shiny. The interior is milky white or slightly blue, smooth and shiny. The quality is hard and heavy, and the section is layered. No breath, light taste. Smooth, yellow and white, no dirt is preferred.
