By pollen source
Often, royal jelly is called by what is grown during the flowering period. For example, the royal jelly collected during the flowering of rapeseed is called rapeseed pulp, and the royal jelly collected during the flowering of acacia is called acacia pulp. Similarly, there are linden syrup, sunflower syrup, thorn syrup, purple daffodil syrup, miscellaneous flower syrup and so on.
By color
The royal jelly produced during the flowering period of different pollen sources has a large difference in color. For example, rapeseed pulp is white, acacia pulp is creamy white, purple yunnings pulp is yellowish, buckwheat pulp is slightly red, purple acacia pulp is purple and so on. The color of royal jelly can be distinguished by the color of the pollen source of what is produced during the flowering period.
By production season
Generally produced before mid-May royal jelly can be categorized as spring syrup, after mid-May royal jelly production is categorized as summer and autumn syrup. Spring royal jelly is creamy yellow, the best quality royal jelly of the year, especially the first production of royal jelly of the highest quality, high content of rosmarinic acid. Autumn royal jelly is slightly darker in color and has a slightly lower water content than spring royal jelly, but the quality is slightly lower than spring royal jelly.
By Bee Species
Based on the different species of bees, royal jelly is categorized into Chinese royal jelly, western royal jelly, and black bee jelly, with the former produced by Chinese bees and the latter by western bees. Compared with the western bee pulp, the Chinese bee pulp is more viscous in appearance, pale yellow, and slightly lower in royal jelly acid content. The production of Chinese bee pulp is much lower than that of Western bee pulp. Most of the pulp sold in the market is western bee pulp. Black bee pulp is mainly produced in Heilongjiang Province and Qinghai Province. The production of black bee pulp is lower than that of western bee pulp, but the nutrition is higher than that of western bee pulp, and the quality of royal jelly is high. The spicier the western royal jelly, the better, and the fresher the black royal jelly, the better, similar to the sweetness of the flavorings.
According to the physical and chemical indexes
It is more scientific to determine the grade of royal jelly according to the classification of physical and chemical indexes. Royal jelly contains 10-Hydroxy-dec-2-decenoic acid (10-HDA), which is unique in nature, and China's export of royal jelly basically determines the quality and price according to this index, and it is recognized by foreign customers. According to China's national standard, the 10-HAD index of first grade royal jelly is greater than 1.4%, while the 10-HDA index is greater than 2.0, which is the best royal jelly.
By yield, royal jelly can be divided into low-yield (ordinary) pulp and high-yield pulp:
Because royal jelly is a labor-intensive product, and the yield is very low, generally a group of bees can only produce 3-4 kg of royal jelly a year, so the production cost is very high. After years of breeding, the researchers concerned have produced some relatively high yielding bee species, called pulp bees, with an annual output of up to 8-10 kilograms. Some breeding farms have even produced bee breeds with annual production of 13 kg or more of royal jelly, or even higher. According to a large amount of analytical data, the quality of high-yield pulp is slightly worse than that of low-yield pulp, and the higher the yield, the lower the quality.
Side effects
(1) Allergic people. That is, usually eat seafood easily allergic or often drug allergies. Because royal jelly contains hormones, enzymes, and heterogeneous proteins.
(2) People who suffer from low blood pressure and low blood sugar for a long time. Royal jelly contains substances similar to acetylcholine, which has the effect of lowering blood pressure and blood sugar.
(3) Intestinal dysfunction and diarrhea. Because royal jelly can cause strong contraction of the intestinal tube, inducing intestinal dysfunction, leading to diarrhea and constipation.
(4) Where the liver Yang hyper and damp-heat obstruction, or high fever, vomiting blood, gangrenous liver disease, should not take royal jelly.
