Datong is a sub-central city in Shanxi Province, known as Pingcheng in ancient times, which belongs to Shanxi Province and is located in the north of Shanxi Province. Bounded by the Great Wall in the north, it is adjacent to Xinghe County, fengzhen city County and Liangcheng County in Wulanchabu City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, connected to Youyu County, Huairen City, Yingxian County and fan shi City in Xinzhou City in the west and south, and connected to Huai 'an County, Yangyuan County and Yuxian County in Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province and Laiyuan County and Fuping County in Baoding City in the east.
