American bullfrogs mainly live in the east of the Rocky Mountains in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Although American bullfrog originated in North America, it was also introduced to some parts of Europe, distributed in northern Italy, aquitaine, Spain, the Netherlands and other places, with a small amount distributed along the Italian coast. As an invasive species, it is also widely distributed in China.

Bullfrog is native to the eastern United States. But due to human factors, they have spread to every state except North Dakota.
