Tarocco was originally from Italy. It was first introduced from Albania in 1965, and was introduced from Italy and Algeria after 1972. Sichuan, Jiangxi, Chongqing and Hunan have a small amount of cultivation. Its main characteristics are: the tree is moderate, the crown is round-headed, medium-large, and irregular: the fruit is obovate or short-oval, the fruit stalk has obvious grooves, the weight of a single fruit is about 150 g, and the fruit color is orange-red and smooth; The pulp is dark in color, all purple, crisp and juicy, sweet and sour, rich in aroma, nearly seedless and of high quality; The fruit ripens in the following year1~ February and is storable. Tarocco, as a late-maturing sweet orange, is an excellent orange variety vigorously promoted in China.
The neogene trees in tarocco are strong, with many branches. After 2-3 years of planting, they will be degraded. They will bud in late March, start flowering in early April, bloom in mid-April, and basically fade in early May. The first physiological fruit drop is in early May, and the second physiological fruit drop is in late May. tarocco shoots three times a year in spring, summer and autumn, with occasional winter shoots, with a large amount of spring shoots, mainly in summer shoots, followed by autumn shoots. In tarocco, spring shoots and short branches bear fruit mainly, and some leafless branches bear fruit.
