The reason why many people confuse two green lion spirits is because of a sentence from Manjusri Bodhisattva. Tathagata Buddha once asked how long it had been since the lion essence of Lion Tuoling went down the mountain. Manjusri Bodhisattva answered "seven days". The green lion essence of Wuji country went down the mountain five years before Tang priest arrived in Wuji country, and after two years with the real king, he pushed it into the well. Then it was taken away by Manjusri Bodhisattva. The exact time of this year is eighteen years of Zhenguan.

In the twenty-fifth year of Zhenguan, Tang Priest and his disciples came to Lion Tuoling, and with the help of Tathagata, Manjusri and Pu Xian, they took away the three demons of Lion Tuoling. The time difference between before and after is exactly seven years. In the journey to the west, it is not often said: one day in heaven, one year below. As a result, many people equate these two green lion spirits. In fact, the Tathagata Buddha has long explained Manjusri's "seven days". His old man doesn't think that seven days is seven years. He said, "Seven days in the middle of the mountain is thousands of years in the world." The implication is that the lion demon king of Lion Tuoling has been in trouble for thousands of years.

In the story of Lion Tuoling, Xiao Zuifeng also mentioned that the lion demon and elephant demon "occupied" Lion Tuoling for a long time. If it is only a disaster for seven years, how can it be said for a long time? In fact, there are many places in the original work that can prove the difference between them. For example, their magical powers are different. The green lion essence in Wuji country has low mana. This demon is not only able to call the wind and call the rain, but also has quite low combat strength. In Wuji Palace, the Monkey King once fought against the fake king (the green lion essence), and the fake king behaved badly.

At first, the real king revealed his identity, and the green lion essence was scared to run away immediately, and he didn't dare to fight the Monkey King at all. Wait until the Monkey King flies after him, but after three or five rounds of the war, the green lion essence is defeated. Look at the original text: after several battles, the demon couldn't reach the Monkey King, so he turned around and jumped into the city by the old road. The most proud avatar of this demon king is the art of change. He has not only become the king of Wuji, but also become the Tang Priest, and almost puzzled the Monkey King. As for the Lion Devil in Lion Tuoling, the force value can only be considered second-rate, and he can fight the Monkey King for twenty or thirty rounds. His strongest avatar is swallowing. Later, he swallowed the Monkey King, but he couldn't digest the Monkey King, and was beaten to death by the Monkey King.
