How to choose an oven? Comparative evaluation and purchase analysis of traditional oven, all-in-one steaming, baking and frying machine, and water oven
With the development of science and technology, household appliances have gradually changed from single functions to multi-functional all-in-one machines. Take ovens as an example. From the first ovens, steam ovens with steam functions were developed. Later, There is also an air frying oven with a hot air function. On this basis, adding a microwave function, it becomes an all-in-one micro-steaming and baking machine (water wave oven). The three protagonists of this review are the Tokit oven on the left, the Daewoo all-in-one steamer, griller and fryer in the middle, and the Toshiba all-in-one micro steamer and griller on the right. These appliances are all mid-to-high-end kitchen appliances priced at 2,500-5,000 yuan, and the comparison is scientific.
First, let’s take a look at the comparison of the appearance and details of the three ovens!
Although this Tokit is a traditional oven, it also has hot air on the back. It uses Mijia’s usual knob + touch control. It doesn’t have too many functions, but it is enough as an oven.
The back is equipped with a fan surrounding the heating tube. There are a large number of air holes in the middle and four corners, which can evenly blow the hot air generated by the back heating tube into the cavity, giving it an air-explosion effect. Over time, stainless steel slowly turns yellow under high temperatures.
2 The cavity of this oven is all made of mirror stainless steel. It looks very high-end when I first bought it, but daily cleaning is very tiring. Once the oil drips and burns, there is basically no solution. For example, I had to use steel wool for the traces below that I couldn't erase, which left a lot of ugly scratches. The marks are particularly obvious after being used for a long time, so it is better to use a non-stick coating.
Let’s take a look at Daewoo’s all-in-one steaming, baking and frying machine. The control area is an LCD screen, 4 commonly used buttons and a retro electroplated knob, which is also very simple to operate.
Use the knob to select different working modes, press the knob to select the time, press it again to select the temperature, and press it again to start. It is very intuitive and easy to use.
This all-in-one steaming, baking and frying machine has two M-shaped heating tubes on the top and bottom that can control the temperature independently. There are probes up and down in front of the heating tube entrance on the right side, which are used to measure the internal temperature of the oven and adjust the temperature control in real time.
The entire cavity is coated with nano-ceramic oil, which has a non-stick effect and is easy to clean after daily barbecue. Just wipe it with a rag. If there is any blackened oil, you can wipe it with a sponge.
Remove the cover on the back, and there is a fan and a circle of heating pipes inside. The fan blows the heat generated by the heating tube into the cavity, which is more violent than the heat flow heated by the upper and lower tubes. It can not only increase the baking speed, but also provide better coloring effect. The high-speed rotating fan combined with hot air makes a reliable air fryer. Use the air frying mode when grilling meat.
Generally, I frown a little when encountering an oven with non-hidden upper and lower tubes, because an obvious disadvantage of such an oven is that the top and bottom are difficult to clean, and the heating tube will prevent us from wiping with a rag. The two heating tubes of this oven can be lifted away from the oven wall, which makes it very easy to clean, which is a bonus design.
There are 100 names corresponding to the automatic menu printed on the inside of the oven door. You no longer need to read the manual when using the automatic function.
Finally, let’s take a look at Toshiba’s all-in-one micro-steamer and griller. It can steam and bake, and it also has a microwave function. Its control area is a knob plus 10 physical buttons. The most attractive thing about Toshiba's vd5000 is that it has a 350-degree baking function, which is the ceiling of the world's oven industry. It is very exciting to bake baguettes and chicken thighs at 300 degrees.
Each button corresponds to 5 or 6 different functional categories, and the functions can be switched by multiple clicks. It has many functions, but it also makes the operation more complicated. You have to rely on the manual the first few times you use it. To this day, sometimes I have to click several times to find it. For example, in the steaming mode for baking European buns, most ovens are under the "bake" function, but this water oven is in the steaming function menu.
This water heater uses hidden upper and lower tubes, and the cavity is relatively smooth. Because there is no heating tube, it is especially easy to wipe. However, Daewoo's heating pipe can be removed, so it is easy to clean.
I originally thought that the coating of VD5000 was non-stick, but in fact after grilling meat a few times, the back plate became like this. It should be caused by the relatively large oil being blown onto the back plate by the hot air. (The grilling temperature of this all-in-one machine is on the high side. Among other ovens, it is the only one that smokes when the door is opened when grilling meat at 220 degrees.) I later tried to activate the steam function for 30 minutes to soften the grease with water vapor, but it still couldn't be cleaned.
The bottom plate of Toshiba VD5000 has a circle of positioning. When heating milk or hot dishes, it can be easily placed in the middle of the oven, so that the microwave oven can heat more accurately and it will not be hot and cold at the same time.
After introducing the materials and features of the three ovens, let’s take a look at the accessories. The baking pan of the Tokit is made of non-stick material, which makes it easy to clean after it gets stained when grilling. It also matches the color and texture of the fuselage.
