Gourmet —— Lu Wenfu
Lu Wenfu was born on March 23rd, 1928 in Taixing, Jiangsu. Graduated from Suzhou Middle School in 1948, and went to the liberated areas in northern Jiangsu to participate in the revolution in the same year. In 1955, he began to embark on the road of literary creation. In 1956, he published a short story "Deep in the Alley" and became famous in one fell swoop. However, he was quickly branded as a rightist and sent to the countryside and factories for long-term labor reform. He did not return to Suzhou to engage in professional creation until 1978. Later, he served as vice chairman of Suzhou Federation of Literary and Art Circles and vice chairman of Chinese Writers Association. During his 51-year literary career, Lu Wenfu has made outstanding achievements in novels, essays and literary criticism. He is famous for his excellent works such as Dedication, Family of Vendors, Fence, Lofty, Gourmet and other literary criticism collections, among which Gourmet is his most famous masterpiece.
