Brief introduction of Zheng Jin
After Zheng took part in the uprising, he made great contributions and relied heavily on Chen. He has served as a grain official, pioneer, marshal, right-hand marshal and grand marshal. However, his quality is not good, and he is arrogant in the army, fighting for power and profit, and rejecting dissidents. He was jealous of pioneer Chen Hong's outstanding military achievements and shot him from behind in a battle with the Qing army. In May of the 9th year of Xianfeng in Qing Dynasty (1859), in order to control Huaiji, he fought with rebel generals Lian and Hou Chengdai and drove them away. In February of the second year of Tongzhi in Qing Dynasty (1863), he resented Li Dongjiu's being reused by Jin Chen, so he was constrained everywhere, and Li Dongjiu committed suicide sadly. In July of the same year, rebel generals Qian Deng, Gao Liang and Mai Shun fought fiercely with the Qing army in Nanshan. He was transferred from the team, leaving money and others to fight alone and die heroically. He directs operations and often kills innocent people. In April of the eighth year of Xianfeng in Qing Dynasty (1858), the rebel army captured Xindu, and he personally led his troops to kill thousands of people hiding in caves with smoke. In the spring of the first year of Tongzhi in Qing Dynasty (1862), he occupied a large family named Zheng in Xinrong Township, Silun, Luoding. In order to avoid a military disaster, he pleaded for protection in the name of Lian Zong and was accepted by him. The villagers then proposed to use cattle to buy wine and form a huge rebel army. Unexpectedly, he got drunk and ordered the men and women in the village to be burned to death. From He Lu in the west to Mulu Township in the east, more than 5,000 people were killed. In April and May of the second year of Tongzhi in the Qing Dynasty (1863), Kun Shou, the land governor of Guangdong Province, laid siege to Xinyi. Fearing to be shaken, Zheng advised Jin Chen to surrender, which was denounced by Chen. However, he cast a hostile decision and sent his confidant to see Kun Shou to express his surrender. On September 7, he put Chen under house arrest.
