/kloc-In the 9th century, immigrants from Portugal came to Hawaii with ukulele and became a local instrument similar to a mini guitar. At the beginning of the 20th century, ukulele gained the attention of the whole United States and gradually spread to the international community.
The difference from guitar: ukulele has only four strings, and guitar has six.
There are at least the following legends about ukulele:
1, Queen Lili'uokalani thinks it comes from a gift with Hawaiian words "come here", or "uku" (gift or reward) and "lele" (coming). Another view is that this instrument was originally called "ukekelele" or "Dancingukeke”(ukeke is a Hawaiian lyre). However, since 17 and 18 centuries, European immigrants have increased. Due to different accents, this pronunciation mistake has become "ukulele" for many years.
It is also said that a British general named Edward Walvis took his bodyguard to see King David Karakava of Hawaii. Because he is very good at playing Blagi Nia (the predecessor of ukulele), and this instrument looks small and full of energy, most Hawaiians just call him You Creary, which means jumping flea.
